In the world of oil and politics Saudi Arabia is the King to whom the rest of the world bows. At the recently concluded energy summit the Arabian Kings graciously announced they would increase oil production to 9.7 million barrels per day to help alleviate the current high price of crude oil.
The question is did they say it with a straight face?
The answer is, of course they did.
As I said they are rich and smart.
Let's do some math. 9.7 million barrels of crude oil per day times $135 per barrel is $1,309,500,000 in revenue per day.
Now for the advanced math, $1,309,500,000 times 365 days is $477,967,500,000.
478 billion dollars per year.
At the end of the "summit" the Saudis pat the Americans, Japanese, and British on the head and send them home.
Wouldn't you, if you were rich and smart?

:-?
well well well....things have become a bit dusty around here....so here's sweeping away the dust a little bit....hmm it's been about 2 months and a half since i last blogged..pardon my grammar...the i should have been I..and I am sure you can point out a few more mistakes as well...not that it matters a lot in the world of blogs..but anyways just putting thoughts to the keyboard as they pop..
well, as the title suggests, these are confusing times..OJ Simpson cannot decide whether the prison is more comfortable than his mansion , Indian cricket tour of Australia survived a roller coaster (no one knowing what's happening out there, as of now, the ODI series is still doubtful) and in Tennis, the Australian open is up and running..Hmm...yes folks, the Australian open fits into the confusion as well...You must be confused by now, I did say that these are confusing times......
The reason the Ozzie open fits in there is I do not know why you the spectator, should be subjected to a 20 day event, with 127 players attempting to win the crown and making you the spectator a fool in the process...Yes I did say 127, and I left out deliberately The One--Fedex...
Why I ask do we have to wait for 20 more days when Mr.Fedex will surely win the crown? why not crown him now and get it over with?

Wandering here and there
that was suez....desert met water and desert met sky...the lines were blurred..making me wonder whether it was real or my own imagination cooking up a heavenly image.....
but then again it was real, let me assure you..the desert heat wasn't there to create a mirage...it was balmy in a ? well you know mediterranean way....i welcomed the breeze for what it was worth....but not the sand that it bore...great things happened here about 5000 years ago...the egyptian phahroh's ruled the world or the known limits of this earth at that time.....
i am straddling five millenia here...it is a miracle , a one off spot, a must see place- Egypt..so contradictory and yet so ..hmm? i think they believe that this paradise is their rightful claim..god's chosen place....

the state of shipping
shipping is experiencing heady days...especially the crews...new ships are being built by the score and owners are rushing to find the crews to man them...phew, greedy ship crewmen are having a field day..demanding and getting approval for higher wages every day...why, some of the captains make more than the software geeks in America do....but beware my dear chaps the bottom is around the corner...shipowners are being stranded with ships at anchor for a month even more...the reason ?? No cargo to fill their ships....too many ships being built and chasing the same amount of cargo ...and still the building doesn't stop....u can only imagine the consequences....
